Licensure & Advancement Information

The New Mexico Public Education Department's Professional Licensure Bureau determines qualifications for and issues licenses to:

  • Instructional Support Providers

  • Assistants & Aides

  • Substitutes

  • Coaches

They also provide technical assistance to individuals seeking licensure and to local school officials who must hire licensed staff.

Online Licensure Portal

The new Online Licensure Portal for the New Mexico Public Education Department is now available.

You can apply, pay, and track your application status online. Once your license is issued, you can download and print a copy for your records or to send to FMS Human Resources for your file.

The first time you access the portal, click “Register” to create your account.

FMS Staff Licensure Renewal Process

It is the responsibility of each staff member to track their licenses and expirations dates. To assist the staff Human Resources will send out a notice in January of each year to each staff member who holds a license that expires on June 30 of that year. The notice will include instructions on how to renew online and how to receive the approval from the district for the renewal.
