The Safeway Foundation and Kellogg’s teamed up to give Mesa Verde Elementary School more than $10,000 worth of new books for their library. The students, teachers, and school leaders gathered for a special announcement ceremony earlier today and were surprised with even more good news – a $20,000 donation for the school.
Principal Pamela Schritter expressed gratitude, saying, “This means a lot to us, especially the students. We appreciate being chosen for such generous donations, and it shows how wonderful our community is.”
Next, the students will make a wishlist for new playground equipment.
Exciting books from the “Magic Tree House” series, “Una Casa para un Conejito (Home for a Bunny),” and others arrived this week, along with an invitation to the Safeway Store on 3540 E Main Street.
The students had a fantastic time at the store, meeting Toucan Sam (the Froot Loops cereal mascot), and Safeway staff, also enjoying delicious cake from the deli. Their smiles were truly priceless!
From Farmington Municipal Schools and Mesa Verde Elementary School, a big thank you goes out to the Safeway Foundation and Kellogg’s for their generous donation and belief in supporting reading and investing in education. Special appreciation to the Safeway staff for initiating and making this wonderful donation possible.
Mesa Verde Elementary School received the National Blue Ribbon School title from the U.S. Department of Education in September 2021, recognizing it as one of the best schools in the country for its dedication to educational excellence.
