This morning, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham visited the Animas Elementary School Community Garden to help plant a special New Mexico Green Chile generously donated by former educator Jude McDaniel. Students from Ms. Allen’s and Ms. Bonnell’s classes were excited to participate in the event.
Farmington Municipal Schools and Animas Elementary School will host a Community Garden Party event on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Animas Elementary School.
Also joining us were Nicole Murillo, who oversees the Northwest Region of NM Community Schools, Ms. Lisa Renner, our Community School Coordinator at Animas, Selece and Jeremy Gathings from Gathings Gardens, Principal Trisha Bejar, and Superintendent Cody Diehl.
We also want to thank the Governor for bringing her team to Farmington this week. The Governor’s “Cabinet in Your Community,” a state government constituent services outreach day, was well attended by our different communities on Thursday afternoon. Many people from our community came out to get books, food bags, backpacks, and other helpful resources, before joining the Governor and her administrators for a public forum.
Huge thanks to Animas Elementary for hosting these great events and to all the community partners who made them possible.
A special shoutout to student Ravenna Lopez for helping Governor Lujan Grisham plant in our garden.
A special mention to Ms. Lisa Renner for her incredible work coordinating these events. Thanks for making them such a success!
