What an incredible time we had at today's Día del Niño (Child's Day) celebration at Esperanza Elementary School! Our little ones had a blast showcasing their talents. The kindergarteners lit up the stage with their adorable performance of “La Raspa,” a traditional dance believed to originate from Veracruz, Mexico. It's a mix of dances influenced by Aztec, Spanish, Mayan, and European cultures.
The second graders delighted everyone with their rendition of “El Sapito,” a beloved children's song from Colombia. Meanwhile, the third graders had everyone tapping their feet to the rhythm of “Jesusita en Chihuahua,” a lively Mexican polka from 1916.
Not to be outdone, the fourth graders brought smiles to our faces with their playful version of the norteña hit “Cuando los frijoles bailan” (When the beans dance). And last but not least, the fifth graders wrapped up the afternoon with a spirited performance of “Tao, Tao,” a norteña tune by the group Control.
We hope all our families had as much fun watching these performances as we did putting them together! Thank you for joining us and supporting your students!
On behalf of our Spanish Bilingual Teacher Ms. Dierdorf, thank you to Ms. Garcia, Ms. Ramone, and Ms. Talamante for their help with preparing the program and the decorations. Thank you to our teachers and staff who stayed after school to help with parents and students!
