Dear Students and Families, we have some delicious news for December! Our “So Good!” featured produce this month is kale, and it will be incorporated into meals across all grade levels. Here's what’s on the menu:
Breakfast Highlights:
Fresh-Baked Breakfast Muffins: On December 4 and 18, enjoy muffins made from scratch with care.
National Pastry Day (Dec. 9): We’re celebrating with freshly baked cinnamon rolls for everyone!
National Cocoa Day (Dec. 13): Warm up with hot cocoa served during breakfast.
Lunch Delights:
Kale Creations: On the Nutrition Bar, students can try kale salad and freeze-dried kale chips (we hope to have Ms. Maddy's Hospitality Class help make them!).
National Comfort Food Day (Dec. 5): Savor Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup, with an optional New Mexico Grown freeze-dried green chile for middle and high school students who love a little extra flavor.
Holiday Feast – December 19: We’ll wrap up the semester with a festive Holiday Feast featuring Green Chile Stew made from scratch, served with a warm tortilla, a Red Chile Tamale, Mexican Street Corn, and Homemade Cherry Taquitos.
And here are more important events and updates happening at Farmington Municipal Schools this month:
Community Support
Food Drive (Dec. 3): We’re hosting a food drive to support Echo Food Bank. Stay tuned for more details!
Meal Kit Distribution (Dec. 20 & 27): Families can pick up 7-day Breakfast and Lunch Meal Kits at Central Kitchen from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. (first come, first served).
Special Events
Christmas Parade (Dec. 5th): Come cheer for FMS Student Nutrition as we participate in the Farmington Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade! Look out for our Food Truck and Godega Carts—it’s our 4th year joining this festive event.
National Ugly Sweater Day (Dec. 20): Let’s spread some holiday cheer! Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favorite ugly sweaters to celebrate the holidays.
We can’t wait to celebrate the season with our students and families through these special meals. Thank you for letting us nourish your children with wholesome, delicious food. We look forward to a joyful and festive December with our FMS students and families!
