Joe Guillen, Executive Director of the New Mexico School Boards Association (NMSBA), is proudly announcing that School Board Vice President, Robyn Hoffman, will be named the 2021 New Mexico School Board Association Board Member of the Year! Mrs. Hoffman will be recognized during the NMSBA’s Annual Convention in Albuquerque, on December 3, 2021.
Mrs. Hoffman was nominated for the state-wide honor in part because of her work in creating our current highly effective systems that are leading to increased student achievement and high-reliability schools. From her early years as a volunteer at her children’s elementary school to her visibility at science fairs, concerts, and sports events, Mrs. Hoffman has shaped the future of education in Farmington through her actions.
“Tireless, Mrs. Hoffman embodies the drive and energy of what is best about a school board member. Farmington Municipal Schools celebrates this well-deserved recognition of her unique dedication to education. I’m proud to have served with her for the benefit of Farmington Municipal Schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Eugene Schmidt.
During her tenure, Farmington Municipal Schools experienced great academic improvement, steady rises in English Language Arts proficiency and nationally board-certified teachers, ever-improving yearly graduation rates, National Blue Ribbon Schools, and, most importantly, set a district-wide culture of valuing all students.
Mrs. Hoffman was elected to the FMS School Board in March of 2013 and was reelected in March 2017 through December 2021. She served on the FMS Board Legislative Committee, the FMS Equity Council, and Co-chaired the FMS Board Communications Committee.
