Message from Superintendent Dr. Eugene Schmidt:
Get ready for a whole new look. Farmington Municipal Schools’ Public Relations Department has been working on a couple of exciting communication strategies to celebrate success that are launching, or shall I say, relaunching this month!
First, we have a brand new website, which includes a new layout and more information to be shared with our community! Viewers will notice the district’s new online format. I encourage you to take a moment to visit your school’s site to become more informed about your viewing options. For example, click on the "Menu," which works as a site map, or read the “News” section and “Live Feed,” find the staff directory, and your child’s curriculum, just to name a few items.
Second, I’m excited to announce that we are continuing with a new season of ‘FMS Rising,’ which consists of short videos about current events and issues important to our school district (see video below). These five-to-ten-minute vignettes will feature interesting guests as well as shine the spotlight on academic, artistic, and athletic success stories from our schools.
In the video: Dr. Schmidt discusses playground upgrades with Country Club Elementary Principal Mr. Waller and Esperanza Elementary Principal Dr. Hedges. Also, we have a wonderful performance from the Farmington High School Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Instructor Monica Leaming (minute 8:52), and you’ll meet Piedra Vista High School Teacher Tena Joslin as she was appointed to the NMPED Secretary's Community Advisory Committee (minute 14:20).
The world is changing and you have the opportunity to change with us. Keep an eye out for these relaunches here and on our social media pages. In the next six months, you’ll be amazed at how many new and interesting stories will be coming your way. Stay tuned.
Eugene J. Schmidt, PhD
