A Tea Party at Country Club Elementary Photo

The 3rd-grade students at Country Club could hardly wait for their Tea Party today. Teachers and some parents had brought cookies, cupcakes, fruit, and iced tea, to celebrate wrapping up reading Kenneth Grahame’s “The Wind in the Willows.” The students were wearing formal dresses and jackets, hats, and bow ties. They were having a great time.

“The Wind in the Willows” details the story of Mole, Ratty, and Badger as they try to help Mr. Toad after he becomes obsessed with a motorcar and gets into trouble. The story, and participating in activities like this afternoon’s tea party, reinforce our students’ understanding of story elements and exposes them to rich vocabulary, language, and composition.

The celebration brings the end of the first CKLA Unit for our 3rd graders at FMS.

Amplify Core Knowledge Language Arts or Amplify CKLA provides rich, engaging content for students as they build their knowledge in a subject area, and continue to learn to read and write.

Can’t wait to see what else our educators come up with next.
