The Dual Language Parent Evening at McCormick Elementary School was such a blast! Students from kindergarten through 5th grade took to the stage to demonstrate the amazing language skills they have been learning. Each grade level performed its own songs with coordinated dances and interactive materials! The entire group wrapped the night with a performance of "De Colores", it was amazing to see how many students were active in this program! This dual language initiative was created with the goal in mind that students would be supported and encouraged during their entire academic career in order to obtain the seal of bilingual literacy upon graduation. These students are definitely on their way! If you would like your student to participate in the Dual Language Program, please contact Mrs. Lyn White! https://bit.ly/McCormickStaff

Happy Earth Day, FMS! We're excited about the special activities happening this and next week in our schools. Check out the students at Ladera del Norte on April 22, when they had a great time learning with Waste Management. They got to see their cool recycling trucks that run on renewable natural gas! Our kids showed how much they know about recycling and how to do it correctly. Way to go, Hornets! A big thank you to Waste Management for sharing more information about their services with our students and how we can all help keep our planet clean. And let's give a round of applause to our educators, who just finished their CKLA unit on “Taking Care of the Earth.” #RisingToExcellence #EarthDay

We're thrilled to share that Jayden Griego from Farmington High School has been granted a $1000 scholarship from 3M! Jayden has also been invited to join a special national scholarship event this spring, along with other talented recipients. This wonderful news was revealed during San Juan College's participation in the NC3 National Letter of Intent Signing on April 18, 2024. This event, organized by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3), is much like the NCAA's National Signing Day but for students pursuing technical careers. It's a time to honor students like Jayden who are entering technical fields and to recognize the value of their hard work. In the photo, you can see Yessenia Lopez, Jayden Griego, and Joshua Florez (Photo by W. Dean Howard Photography).

On Monday, April 15, 2024, our Elementary Math and English Language Arts (ELA) Teams had their final meeting of the year, where they celebrated their hard work and exchanged their top ideas. Throughout the year, these teams have been dedicated to improving teaching methods, focusing on better ways to keep track of students' progress and keep families informed about their learning journey. Now, they'll head back to their schools to kickstart a new phase, sharing insights from their colleagues and spreading their best practices within their school communities. A big thank you goes out to our educators and the Curriculum & Instruction Team for tackling this crucial mission.

In Mr. Torres's Foods class at Farmington High School we are cooking up some positively delicious meals! Thanks to an amazing grant from the New Mexico Beef Council, students are perfecting steak temperatures (as well as mastering mashed potato textures) in this lesson. This grant provided $1000 to fund beef education in the classroom and as a result the students can learn these valuable cooking skills on different cuts of steak! Thanks to Mr. Torres's guidance, these students have excellent collaborative skills and are always supporting each other in the kitchen. Awesome job, Scorps!

FMS Art Educators organized this absolutely stunning Elementary Art Gallery to showcase their students' fabulous talent! We loved seeing the expression of creativity through drawing, painting, ceramics, weaving, and so much more! A huge thank you to FMS staff for making this awesome event happen and an awesome job to all of our students proudly displaying their artwork!
