Dear FMS Families, Staff, and Community,
Earlier this morning, we informed the Class of 2025 that they’ll be allowed to decorate their graduation caps at the upcoming ceremonies. We also included updated guidelines on cap decorations, which all graduating students must follow. See pages 30-32 of the updated Parent-Student Handbook.
Our updated graduation protocols reflect thoughtful discussions and policy updates made by our Board of Education, demonstrating their commitment to supporting student success and addressing community concerns. Since last year’s graduations, we have been actively listening and working closely with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes for our students. We have also been closely following the proposed House Bill 194 and Senate Bill 163 in the current legislative session.
We believe this update provides another opportunity for students to express themselves at graduation. Students may also continue to wear medals and cords for academic and athletic achievements, as well as stoles from Native American Programs to honor language and civic accomplishments.
We are grateful to all the families, students, and staff who participated in discussions and helped shape these new guidelines. See you at our graduations.
