FMS Receives Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award

We’re proud to share that Farmington Municipal Schools has received a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for improving the nutrition of the meals we serve our students!

The award—given by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Action for Healthy Kids—celebrates our efforts to prepare healthy, delicious meals from scratch using local ingredients or USDA foods. We’ve also worked hard to involve students in the process, helping us create meals they truly enjoy.

As an award recipient, we will receive national and local recognition and travel stipends to attend a national Healthy Meals Summit. During the summits, awardees will share best practices and strategies for sustaining their achievements.

“Nutritious, balanced meals are a key part of our school environments and play a big role in supporting children’s health, growth, and academic success. We continue to take steps to reduce added sugars and sodium, create healthier versions of student favorites, introduce new and local ingredients, and boost nutrition education. We’re so proud of the work being done to make school meals better for our kids—it’s all about helping them grow strong, stay focused, and thrive every day,” said Marie Johnson, FMS Student Nutrition Program Supervisor.
