story time

Our little ones in kindergarten here at McKinley Elementary School had an exciting morning with a special storytime! They joined “Little Critter” and his family on a fun road trip. Retired teacher Barbara Slaugh, who is 96 years young, came to visit and read them a delightful book called “The Fall Festival” by Mercer Mayer. It's all about apple picking, hayrides, and the joy of the harvest season.

We want to give a big shoutout to Three Rivers Estates Senior Living and Memory Care for their fantastic work and the amazing “Ageless Dream” initiative that made this visit possible. Ms. Slaugh had a dream to come back to the classroom after 20 years, and we're so grateful she could share her love of reading with our young students. She's been a teacher in different states, including Nebraska and Colorado.
