Improving the Academic Achievement of the disadvantaged

The Title I Part A funds provide supplemental educational support for children who are failing of at-risk of failing to meet the state's academic standards.

Title I Part A

Title I Part A (Title I) of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA) supports local schools districts to improve teaching and learning for children in high poverty schools to enable them to meet challenging academic content and performance standards.

Funding is distributed to districts based on poverty as determined by the US Census Bureau. Funds are to be used to address students’ specific educational needs as described in schools’ needs assessment.

The purpose of this program is to provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education and to close educational achievement gaps
